GRAPE VARIETY
100% Syrah. 20 year old vines.
SOIL
Plot half-way up the hill, clay and limestone at the bottom, gravel at the top. South facing. Situated in the district of Mercurol.
VINIFICATION
Grapes are destemmed. Maceration in concrete vats, used to slow the change in temperature, for about four weeks (depending on vintage). Extraction made by pumping over and punching down. |
MATURING
In oak barrels for 14 to 16 months depending on the vintage (20 to 30% in new oak).
TASTING
Colour : limpid, intense ruby colour.
Nose : very ripe small red fruit and hints of leather.
Palate : jammy red fruit, full-bodied, delicate tannins with a slight woody vanilla flavour.
